Private Walking Tour of Queens

Private Tours New York
$350

You're visiting New York City and you're thinking there's nothing much to do or see in Queens, right?

Well, you're wrong!

Join me for one of the most popular tours I've lead since 2012! This tour will open your eyes to the "Worlds' Borough", the most diverse county in USA.

We'll be visiting three very distinct, and unique neighborhoods. If you want to see the diversity, the cultural significance and history in the largest borough of New York City you have to join us for a tour.

We will utilize subway.

The tour last about 4 hours and include a stop at a place for a quick bite (not included in rate)

We will talk general history of NYC, as well as an aspect of what it means to be an immigrant in today's NYC, as your tour guide is not a native New Yorker but someone who worked hard to make this amazing city home.

JOIN US, and take home a memory that will be a highlight of your trip!

There are around 400 neighborhoods in New York City, and 99 of them are in Queens. On this tour, a local tour guide will present a side of the Big Apple very few tourists gets to see. Enjoy a leisurely walk from neighborhood to neighborhood encountering different cultures, tastes, and scents, and experiencing a part of the authentic New York City.

Much attention is given to Brooklyn and Manhattan, leaving the other boroughs untouched, undiscovered, and more importantly, misunderstood by visitors. But these places are said to showcase 'authentic' New York: the Bronx, Staten Island, and Queens each have amazing history, buildings, and cultures to offer.

The best way to discover these areas is on foot with a local guide.

Queens is one of the most diverse counties in the country, with almost 70 percent of its residents from outside the US with more than 200 languages spoken. Hop on the 'International Express,' traveling from Manhattan to Queens, and encounter different cultures at every stop — all with the swipe of a MetroCard.

Avenue Q on Broadway

Theater, Dance, & Musicals New York City
$94
Tony-winning musical Avenue Q is the hilarious and heartfelt story of a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York with big dreams and little money. He can only afford to live on Avenue Q but—good news!—his neighbors turn out to be a remarkably funny bunch of characters.

Picture a grown-up episode of Sesame Street, with satirical songs (“It Sucks To Be Me”) and jokes replacing preschool-style banter. The actors remain visible at all times and mimic the action of their puppets, adding yet another level of humor. Avenue Q is fast-moving and laugh-packed, particularly for audiences willing to embrace its rebellious, politically incorrect spirit.

In spite of the presence of Henson-esque puppets, Avenue Q is not a children's musical. Older teenagers will enjoy the show because it tackles issues of growing up and leaving home, but parents should use discretion in deciding whether their kids are mature enough for Avenue Q.

The Band's Visit on Broadway

Theater, Dance, & Musicals New York City
$74
The Band's Visit, a critically acclaimed new musical and New York Times Critics' Pick, arrives on Broadway this Fall 2017 direct from a sold-out engagement where it was hailed as, "A place you want to visit if you're looking for signs of new and exciting life in the contemporary American musical" (Ben Brantley, The New York Times).

An Egyptian Police Band arrives in Israel to play a concert. After a mix-up at the border, they are sent to a remote village in the middle of the desert. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways. The Band's Visit celebrates the deeply human ways music and laughter connect us all.

"This is the place you want to visit if you are looking for signs of new and exciting life in the contemporary American musical.” - Ben Brantley, The New York Times

“It doesn't feel like any musical ever. It doesn't sound like anything else you've heard. Perfect is the wrong word for such a rangy, unusual musical, but it'll just have to do.”– Jesse Green, New York Magazine

Yum Yum MET Culinary Art Tour

Museums New York
$69
A food tour inside the Metropolitan Museum?

Yum Yum MET Culinary Art Tour is an immensely fun, yet sophisticated, journey through The MET's food-related artworks.

The Met is one of the biggest culinary-art serving restaurants in the world. Instead of boeuf bourguignon and Bordeaux wine, the MET's menu predominantly features feast-depicting paintings, sculptures of kitchen scenes, as well as masterpieces connecting food with a wide range of social issues, from religion, politics to gender equality and sex.

An engaging and intimate (up to 8 persons) experience, full of hilarious stories, interactive games (with prizes!!) and memorabilia to take home.

* The MET's policy doesn't allow serving food in the galleries

Yum Yum MET Culinary Art Tour is an exciting 2-hour long walk through many of The MET's magnificent collections. Every stop has a story. Or two! Historical facts, art trivia, hilarious details, forgotten rituals, ancient cooking recipes, and techniques! As real foodies, we love not just eating food, but also talking food, sharing our food knowledge and celebrating with new friends!

The Idea:

Ever since Adam took Eve out to dinner -- or was it the other way around? -- humans have eaten mountains of decadent stuff!

As a matter of fact, besides scarfing down delicacies, they also carved food shapes in caves; constructed utensils from stone, ivory and wood; roasted antelopes in underground pits; baked poultry in porcelain ovens; got drunk with gods and lovers; foraged turf and surf for their family or cultivated the earth and sold the harvest to their neighbors; started wars and signed peace treaties to secure access to priceless spices; protected their secrets with apocryphal culinary symbols; celebrated victories with feasts and sought comfort in tragedies.

Regrettably, we are not lucky enough to nosh on all these historic delicacies. However, we are excited to rediscover these "foodprints" which have been left behind in various forms of arts & crafts. You're invited to a curated tour of the vast collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City, with food and flavors as our main compass!

Whatever you choose, you'll have three full days to explore more than 40 stops. If you choose to do an entire loop, each of the three loops takes between two and three hours to complete.

And if you're not able to fit in everything you'd like to during the day, this pass also offers the opportunity to embark on a night tour (not hop-on hop-off) to see New York's dazzling lights from the top of the open-air, double-decker bus. Along the way, the guide regales young tour-goers with interesting tales about the history of this old neighborhood. Each child participant will be given an activity sheet with exercises that correspond to the neighborhood, including vocabulary lessons. There are three levels of activity sheets, enough to keep everyone engaged.

Monkey around at the Bleecker Street playground, a favorite local hangout for celebrity parents. And then stroll by historic and famous sites such as Jackson Square, Chaim Gross' statue The Family, Abingdon Square, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, and Father Demo Square. A stop at Blue Note Jazz Club will help tour participants understand the importance of music, particularly jazz, to the neighborhood's past.

The final stop is leafy Washington Square Park, where the children will put on a short play about the founding of the park. Each kid will play a role.

There will be a 15-minute bathroom break along the way, and the tour ends at Washington Square Park, leaving you free to continue to explore the neighborhood on your own.

Jazz Fest Concert Series and Fish Fry Option

    Music New York
    $100
Enjoy a jazz concert in a 19th-century, Brooklyn brownstone house. 'Remembering When' is a celebration of music in the heart of Brooklyn's historic Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood, where jazz reigned in the 1930s. Enjoy live music performed in an intimate setting plus an open-mic session.

This jazz concert series is hosted in a salon-style, acoustic sound room — located inside a restored Victorian brownstone building in Brooklyn's historic Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood.

Imagine retreating back to the 1930s, when jazz music reigned supreme in this burgeoning area. Spend the evening in an intimate setting, enjoying a live jazz concert, the option of a Southern fish fry buffet, and an open-mic opportunity to sing or play an instrument.

During the 1930s, music fans didn't have to go to Manhattan to experience the jazz scene. Brooklyn had one of it's own. Bedford Stuyvesant had the largest jazz neighborhood in Brooklyn, with venues that housed jazz greats like Thelonius Monk, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Hank Mobley, and others.

All that eventually changed as jazz clubs began to wane in favor of a different generation of music. This concert series revives the local jazz scene of the past, with no bells, whistles, or amps. This is salon jazz — intimate, classic, acoustic concerts — every Friday and Saturday night.

Arrive early to meet the performers, then enjoy an evening of great music, with a behind-the-scenes look at this unique jazz venue.

When Craig Harris exploded onto the jazz scene in 1976, he brought the entire history of the jazz trombone with him. From the growling gutbucket intensity of early New Orleans music to the refined, articulate improvisation of the modern era set forth by J.J. Johnson and into the confrontational expressionism of the ‘60s avant-garde, Craig handled the total vernacular the way a skilled orator utilizes the spoken word. He has performed with a variety of progressive jazz's most influential figures, and his projects display both a unique sense of concept and a total command of the sweeping expanse of musical expression. It is those two qualities that have dominated Craig's past thirty years of activity, bringing him far beyond the confines of the jazz world, into the sphere of multimedia and performance art as composer, performer, curator and artistic director.
