Brooklyn Bridge and DUMBO Walking Tour

Tours New York
$25
Take the journey from Manhattan to Brooklyn across one of the world's most iconic and historic bridges on this guided tour. In Brooklyn, we will explore the trendy DUMBO neighborhood, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and the incredible views of this area, which offer amazing photo opportunities! Come discover Brooklyn on a tour you will not forget!

Our journey will begin in City Hall Park, at which point we will begin our walk across the historic Brooklyn Bridge. In 1883, this iconic structure became the first land connection between Manhattan and the then-independent city of Brooklyn. Your guide will discuss the history of this bridge and the communities it connected. You will also get ample photo opportunities of key landmarks of Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center and Empire State Building from the bridge.

Upon arriving in Brooklyn, we will explore the neighborhood of DUMBO, a former industrial powerhouse that is now home to trendy boutiques and tech companies. In DUMBO, you will cross cobblestone streets and former trolley tracks and see the most-Instagrammed spot in Brooklyn. We then visit Brooklyn Bridge Park, an 85-acre waterfront park built on the site of former shipping piers and industrial warehouses. Since it first opened less than a decade ago, it has become of the city's most popular parks, and you will see why.

Discover sweeping views, trendy eateries, and numerous photo opportunities.

At the end of the tour, you may continue to explore DUMBO on your own, or take a quick subway or ferry ride back to Manhattan.

Victorian Flatbush Walking Tour

Tours New York
$25
Flatbush was one of the original 6 towns of Brooklyn, having been settled by the Dutch in 1651. But its most beautiful treasure is the Victorian Flatbush subsection, developed in the late 19th-century. Several small historic districts, mansions, and a church dating back to 1654 are some of the highlights you will see on this tour in central Brooklyn.

This Brooklyn tour will start at a historic subway station. From there, we will explore Victorian Flatbush, and its many sub-neighborhoods (Ditmas Park, Prospect Park South, the historic Albemarle-Kenmore Terraces and more!). You will see gorgeous homes and mansions in styles ranging from Victorian to colonial revival to neo-Tudor. You will see the Flatbush Reformed Dutch Church, founded in 1654, and the newly revived Kings Theater. We'll also see NYC's oldest high school (founded by Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and others... and attended in more modern times by Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, and more), land-marked buildings, a private tennis club tucked away behind pre-war apartment buildings, and more.

We will discuss the history of the neighborhood, good and bad, and how gentrification is affecting Brooklyn.

This walking tour is for those who looking to discover another side of Brooklyn. Easy for all-ages. This will be a relaxing stroll through mostly tree-lined streets.

Brewery and Beer-Tasting Tour in Brooklyn

Booze Tour New York City
$82
Learn about Brooklyn's beer-brewing past and present on a guided walking tour of a local brewery and the history-rich neighborhood in which it's located. Brooklyn was a beer-brewing capital for much of the 1900s, but all of the 40+ breweries that existed in the borough pre-1970 have disappeared. Find out why, and what is causing them to return, as your local guide leads you on a brewery tour and a walk through the neighborhood of Williamsburg.

At the turn of the century, Brooklyn was considered a ‘Milwaukee of the East,' providing a home to approximately 40 breweries. But by the early 1970s, labor costs, prohibition and technological improvements caused every one of them to lock their doors and leave town. Over the past few years, new breweries have started popping up and are reinventing the crafts of their ancestors. Discover the story in depth as you follow your local guide on a walking tour through one of Brooklyn's favorite local breweries, where you'll take an exclusive tour and sample the delicious brew.

Next, head to the birthplace of Brooklyn's brewing scene, where you'll explore some of the historic 19th-century buildings that once housed brewing operations. Hear stories from your guide about the German immigrants that brewed the beer and lived in the neighborhood. Then visit the Church of Most Holy Trinity – St Mary, a beautiful church dating back to the mid-18th century. After, enjoy a full lunch (included) at a traditional pizza shop that uses the freshest ingredients.

Your final stop brings you to a friendly neighborhood bar to sample several more local brews.

Brooklyn Museum is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States. Its roots extend back to 1823 and the founding of the brooklyn Apprentices' Library to educate young tradesmen (Walt Whitman would later become one of its librarians).

The Brooklyn Museum was conceived as the focal point of a planned cultural, recreational, and educational district for the burgeoning city of Brooklyn. Although the scope of that envisioned complex of parks, gardens, and buildings changed after the once-independent Brooklyn was absorbed into New York City in 1898, many features of the plan were eventually realized and are reflected in what can be seen today.

In recent years, the Museum has focused on redesigning its galleries and reinstalling its major collections to make them more accessible to the public. Flowing spaces, vivid wall colors, dramatic graphic elements, and multimedia components feature in many of these reconfigured galleries.
The collections of American painting and sculpture, with significant additions from Spanish colonial and Native American art, were reorganized in 2001 to form the long-term installation “American Identities: A New Look” within completely reconceived gallery spaces.

With a mission to create inspiring encounters with art that expand the ways we see ourselves, the world and its possibilities, visiting this museum is an educational and cultural experience not to be missed!

This exceptional evening runs the 1st Thursday of every month with different musicians performing at various homes in Harlem.

This 2-hour intimate experience provides a haven where music lovers can relax and engage with musicians while enjoying hors d'oeuvres, wine and dessert. This exceptional evening runs the 1st Thursday of every month with different musicians performing at various homes in Harlem.

The Harlem Safe House Jazz Parlor is artistically directed by Craig Harris, a trombonist, composer and longtime Harlem resident. When Craig Harris exploded onto the jazz scene in 1976, he brought the entire history of the jazz trombone with him. From the growling gutbucket intensity of early New Orleans music to the refined, articulate improvisation of the modern era set forth by J.J. Johnson and into the confrontational expressionism of the ‘60s avant-garde, Craig handled the total vernacular the way a skilled orator utilizes the spoken word. He has performed with a variety of progressive jazz's most influential figures, and his projects display both a unique sense of concept and a total command of the sweeping expanse of musical expression. It is those two qualities that have dominated Craig's past thirty years of activity, bringing him far beyond the confines of the jazz world, into the sphere of multimedia and performance art as composer, performer, curator and artistic director.

Jazz Fest Concert Series and Fish Fry Option

    Music New York
    $100
Enjoy a jazz concert in a 19th-century, Brooklyn brownstone house. 'Remembering When' is a celebration of music in the heart of Brooklyn's historic Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood, where jazz reigned in the 1930s. Enjoy live music performed in an intimate setting plus an open-mic session.

This jazz concert series is hosted in a salon-style, acoustic sound room — located inside a restored Victorian brownstone building in Brooklyn's historic Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood.

Imagine retreating back to the 1930s, when jazz music reigned supreme in this burgeoning area. Spend the evening in an intimate setting, enjoying a live jazz concert, the option of a Southern fish fry buffet, and an open-mic opportunity to sing or play an instrument.

During the 1930s, music fans didn't have to go to Manhattan to experience the jazz scene. Brooklyn had one of it's own. Bedford Stuyvesant had the largest jazz neighborhood in Brooklyn, with venues that housed jazz greats like Thelonius Monk, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Hank Mobley, and others.

All that eventually changed as jazz clubs began to wane in favor of a different generation of music. This concert series revives the local jazz scene of the past, with no bells, whistles, or amps. This is salon jazz — intimate, classic, acoustic concerts — every Friday and Saturday night.

Arrive early to meet the performers, then enjoy an evening of great music, with a behind-the-scenes look at this unique jazz venue.

Along the way, the guide regales young tour-goers with interesting tales about the history of this old neighborhood. Each child participant will be given an activity sheet with exercises that correspond to the neighborhood, including vocabulary lessons. There are three levels of activity sheets, enough to keep everyone engaged.

Monkey around at the Bleecker Street playground, a favorite local hangout for celebrity parents. And then stroll by historic and famous sites such as Jackson Square, Chaim Gross' statue The Family, Abingdon Square, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, and Father Demo Square. A stop at Blue Note Jazz Club will help tour participants understand the importance of music, particularly jazz, to the neighborhood's past.

The final stop is leafy Washington Square Park, where the children will put on a short play about the founding of the park. Each kid will play a role.

There will be a 15-minute bathroom break along the way, and the tour ends at Washington Square Park, leaving you free to continue to explore the neighborhood on your own.

Cool down this summer with an experience unlike anything you've probably ever done, with 2-hours on a floating water park. Hop aboard this water park and jump, swing, dive and swim. The Tarzan Boat is a unique boat design featuring a 6ft platform called the Monkey Jump, a 14ft Gorilla Jump high dive, a 12ft Tarzan Swing, plus a trampoline known as the Monkey Bounce. Daredevils can also tryout the boat's 12ft high trampoline, and jungle-themed curvy water slide.

Head to Rockaway Beach in Queens, and experience an afternoon in beautiful Jamaica Bay. After checking in at the water park, change into a bathing suit and you are ready to jump into the water. Swim over to the Tarzan Boat, a floating water park with trampolines, a high dive, rope swing, water slide, and various platforms to dive off. If you get tired, there are floats all around the boat to relax, recharge, and get back into the action.

While at the water park, families and friends can also choose from many other water activities that include Jet Skis, kayaks, and standup paddle boards (these activities are booked separately). If anyone in your group is not interested in water activities, they are welcome to hang out on the Thai Rock deck and outdoor bar where they can watch you and enjoy an afternoon with food, drink and music (at own expense).
