Luxembourg American Cultural Society and Center

Museums Milwaukee
$9
Explore the largest Luxembourger genealogical database in the United States at the Luxembourg American Cultural Center in Belgium, WI. Visit the well-developed permanent exhibits and take a stroll through the beautiful gardens behind the museum. Hear stories of American immigrants who left Europe behind in search of a new life and discover the pieces of their past they brought with them.

Tucked away along the shores of Lake Michigan, halfway between Milwaukee and Sheboygan, lies the small town of Belgium, WI. Home to less than 2,000 inhabitants and dozens of small farms, the area has a rich history of European immigration and cultural diversity dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. Although many Germans, French, and Swiss made it to the shores of the lake during this golden age of American expansion and immigration, it was the tiny duchy of Luxembourg that looms large to many of the residents of this small Wisconsin town.

The Cultural Center offers you an intimate opportunity to learn more about one of Europe's smallest nations and the people who called it their home. See exhibits explaining the way of life many of these people left behind and why they were so desperate to build new ones in the American midwest. Find out what this new life was like along the shores of the Lake Michigan and how the communities and culture these people built impact the town today. If you are of Luxembourger decent, you can investigate at the research library and try to match your family lineage to records dating back to the 1640s.

The Museum is open to the public on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays  from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and by appointment during normal business hours the rest of the week.

North Point Lighthouse Admission Ticket

Museums Milwaukee
$8

The North Point Lighthouse and Museum is a beautifully restored landmark and museum located between two ravines in picturesque Lake Park on Milwaukee's historic East Side. It is one of the city's oldest structures and features a 74-foot tower and Queen Anne-style keeper's quarters. Museum exhibits and artifacts tell the history and stories about Milwaukee's lighthouses, the keepers who maintained them, and Great Lakes maritime industry.

Built in 1888, the unique octagonal lighthouse guided a bustling maritime trade on the Great Lakes for almost 100 years. When Frederick Law Olmsted, architect of New York City's iconic Central Park, was commissioned to design Lake Park, he built the grand Lion Bridges to join the north and south sections of the park—placing the North Point Lighthouse in the middle as the park's crown jewel.

North Point Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Lighthouses and the National Register of Historic Places.

What to do and see at North Point Lighthouse

Explore and experience this unique Wisconsin historic treasure and museum.

• Climb the 1888 74-foot tower for a spectacular 360° view of historic Lake Park, Lake Michigan and Milwaukee.

• Discover how the lighthouse was a beacon to the Great Lakes maritime industry for almost 100 years.

• Enjoy docent-led museum tours about the history of the North Point Lighthouse and its importance to Milwaukee's shipping industry.

• Explore the maritime history and artifacts about the ships that sailed on Lake Michigan—and the shipwrecks that occurred.

• Learn how lighthouse illumination works and see the original Fresnel lens that served as the guiding light for ships entering Milwaukee's harbor.

Milwaukee Brewery Tour

Booze Tour Milwaukee
$55
Take a 3.5-hour guided brewery tour to some of Milwaukee's best brew spots. On this tour you will not learn how beer is made, but why it's made. You will meet the founders, the brewers, and some of the long time employees who's passion is great beer. Ask questions, learn their story, and drink local beer.

Our small-group tour is limited to 14 people. Visit Lakefront Brewery, Gathering Place Brewing, Black Husky Brewing, and end the tour at Company Brewing. Two 6 ounce beers are included at each brewery.

Meet your guide at Company Brewing at 1:15pm. Once known as the 'Brew City,' Milwaukee has not seen the amount of breweries present today since the 1840s! While it might be fun to sample each and every one of them, this tour features four of the best breweries found in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood.

Our first stop is Lakefront Brewery, one of the first and most successful Micro-Breweries in Milwaukee! Lakefront began in an old bakery in Riverwest and has since grown to produce almost 50,000 barrels per year. Some of their accomplishments include the first certified organic beer in the country, the first gluten free beer recognized by the US Government, as well as what may be the first bottled fruit beer since prohibition.

Next up is Gathering Place Brewing. Opened in August of 2017, Gather Place is the newest brewery in Milwaukee! In an ode to the Native American meaning of our present day Milwaukee, Gathering Place creates a space to join others at the "gathering of the waters" to enjoy their vibrant and unique beers. Meet Joe the owner and find out why he gave up a crazy life in Washington D.C. to return home to Milwaukee.

Moving on, we head to Black Husky Brewing. Started in a cabin way "Up North" in Pembine Wisconsin in 2010, Black Husky moved to Riverwest in 2016. Each beer is inspired by the 23 sled dogs in their kennel - including "Sproose 2" the only Spruce IPA brewed year round in the US. The founder Tim hates giving tours but will make an exception just for us!

Our last stop is Company Brewing. Keeping things local, Company has created a "neighborhood pale ale" brewed with hops harvested in the backyard of their neighbors! George took his 14 years of experience in the coffee industry and turned it into a thriving brewery with a full kitchen and live music.

Tour concludes at Company Brewing.
