Loire Valley Castles Private Day Trip from Paris

Private Tours Paris
$1,340

Travel out of Paris to the picturesque Loire Valley by deluxe car or minivan on this private day trip. You'll visit three of the major castles in this UNESCO World Heritage–listed region: Château de Chambord, Château de Chenonceau, and Château de Cheverny (or Château d'Amboise or Château de Blois if you choose, instead of Cheverny). Tour the inside of the three castles with a private guide, who shares insight about the architecture and history. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

Your day trip starts with hotel pickup by private vehicle for the 2-hour drive from Paris to the Loire Valley, known for its castles and wine.

Start with a visit to Château de Chambord, the largest in the Loire Valley, allegedly built using a design created by Leonardo da Vinci. This extravagant structure with 360 chimneys once housed members of the French court, who would welcome the king of France when he returned from hunting. Of all the architectural wonders of Chambord, the most famous is the double-spiral staircase, the core of the building.

Next, discover Château d'Amboise, a royal castle and gardens overlooking the Loire River and the blue-slate roofs of the town of the same name. The St. Hubert chapel is home to the tomb of Leonardo da Vinci, who died while a guest of the king. If you wish, you might want to enjoy a tasting of Touraine wines, from the appellation of Amboise or Montlouis (own expense).

Then continue to Château de Chenonceau, known for its construction over the Cher River, where the beauty of its architecture is reflected in the water. Nicknamed the 'Château of the Ladies,' Chenonceau was a favorite among women of the French nobility. Your private day trip then ends with return to your Paris hotel.

Note: On the day of your tour, it may be possible to visit a different castle instead of Amboise, to be discussed with your guide, such as Château de Cheverny, an early 17th-century private castle, richly furnished, with a beautiful park and a hundred hound dogs in their kennels. Or visit Château de Blois, a royal castle that illustrates different periods in architecture with its combination of Gothic, Renaissance, and Classical styles.

Luxury Champagne Region Day Trip from Paris with Private Champagne Estate Visit

    Private Tours Paris
    $178

Delve into the exclusive world of the Champagne region and its offerings on this day trip from Paris. Leave ordinary life behind as you embark on a fully-guided, 10-hour tour of France's most famous sparkling wine region. Travel in an air-conditioned coach into the heart of French luxury, where you'll toast the drink of kings and spend a day completely immersed in the offerings of some of the region's most iconic producers.

Meet your guide on the steps of Opera Bastille in Paris, and board a comfortable coach bus for a journey to the illustrious Champagne region. Along the way your guide will provide details about your destination, including its history, traditions, and details on the Champagne you'll be tasting.

Your first stop is the Épernay, a picturesque hamlet that's home to the Avenue de Champagne. This iconic street is said to be the “most expensive avenue in the world,” thanks to the multitude of Champagne stored in chalk cellars and stretching for miles beneath it.

Explore these underground tunnels for yourself with a visit to the esteemed Champagne house of Mercier, known for being France's top-selling Champagne. Learn why these cellars were considered revolutionary at the time of their construction and a bit about their architect — the house's visionary founder.

Once you're through exploring these incredible subterranean lairs, spend some free time discovering this charming enclave. Stroll along the avenue admiring its stunning mansions, or savor some local cuisine. Your guide will be available to offer suggestions tailored to your interests.

It's then time to settle back into your coach and embark on a winding tour through the rolling vineyards. Soon you'll reach your next destination: Hautvillers. Famous for being the birthplace of Champagne, this lovely village is also home to a Benedictine abbey steeped in history — its cellar master was none other than Dom Pérignon.

Take a guided stroll through the heart of Hautvillers while learning about its history and most famous resident, as well as how he came to discover the secret recipe for this enchanting potion. In fact, he was so excited that he's said to have cried, “Come quickly — I am tasting the stars!”

While Pérignon's local tomb is a monument to his legacy, Hautvillers also has a fascinating way of recognizing the talents of its other inhabitants: beautifully forged iron signs that decorate shops and houses, revealing the trade of those who work or live there.

You'll then continue on to your final stop: a family-run Champagne estate, where you'll tour its rolling vineyards and candle-lit cellars. Learn about the Champagne-making process and sample three different Champagne varietals produced on the grounds.

Your day trip concludes with a leisurely bus trip back to the original departure point in Paris.

Eiffel Tower Michelin Experience at Le Jules Verne Restaurant

    Private Tours Paris
    $275
Enjoy a dining experience in a universally recognized icon : the Eiffel Tower, and the well-know Alain Ducasse One Michelin Star restaurant: Le Jules Verne.

Located at the second level of the Eiffel Tower, Le Jules Verne offers a contemporary cuisine, reuniting all the basics of classic French cuisine. Created from a rigorous selection of quality ingredients from our regions, it reflects the quest of excellence dear to Alain Ducasse. Beyond the spectacular view upon Paris, the elegant space created by interior designer Patrick Jouin, is an invitation to the dream. In daytime, natural light pours throughout the restaurant. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes more muted, more sensual.

The service is in perfect tune with the restaurant, under the direction of Maxime Maze, guests are received right at the esplanade by the South Pillar, where the private lift whisks them away to the restaurant 125 metres above. Le Jules Verne offers a one-of-a-kind experience. Not only does it still boast the most beautiful view over Paris, but now it also lays claim to one of the most intimate and inviting dining rooms in the city, playing with the natural light of day and the city lights at night. Le Jules Verne is the essence of Parisian elegance today – steeped in tradition, extremely open-minded and exceedingly generous.

Le Jules Verne's unique location on the second level of the Eiffel Tower, with a breathtaking view over Paris, makes it the Parisian venue par excellence. The restaurant's cuisine and service uses this basic principle as a base, reinterpreted with a contemporary twist. Pascal Féraud, Eric Azoug – the chefs at Le Jules Verne – and Alain Ducasse created a decidedly French menu with a contemporary focus, reuniting all the basics of classic French cuisine: rigorously selected quality ingredients combined with exacting preparation and cooking techniques. This is cuisine without artifice: each flavour is meant to be clearly discerned in recipes that seek to delight guests, not impress them. Generous, accessible cuisine with the sole aim to please – and is that not what it's all about? A cuisine that wants to reacquaint the French with the incomparable talent of their culinary heritage and extends an open invitation to visitors from around the world to come discover it.

In the same vein, the wine list at Le Jules Verne, created by Gérard Margeon, chef sommelier of Alain Ducasse Restaurants, features a selection of the finest French wines from the country's greatest regions, with long-standing names sharing the limelight with young winegrowers who symbolise the dynamic nature of contemporary French wine-making.

Le Jules Verne is the accomplishment of an incredible adventure. A real challenge due to the highly symbolic nature of the venue, but also for very concrete reasons: space on the second level of the Eiffel Tower is limited, and the weight of all the materials and equipment used had to be monitored with painstaking exactness, not to mention the safety constraints involved. Renovation works also took environmental issues into account, all within a tight 120-day schedule.

Private WWI Day Trip from Paris: Aisne-Marne Battlefields, Belleau Wood and Museum of the Great War

    Private Tours Paris
    $194
Immerse yourself in World War I history with a day trip from Paris north to France's Picardy region. Visit Aisne and Marne, two major parts of the western front where some of the deadliest American battles occurred. See trenches and other traces of battle as you explore Belleau Wood, and pay your respects at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery. Head to nearby Meaux to visit the Museum of the Great War, a moving testament to the scope and tragedy of WWI.

You'll be picked-up by your guide at your central Paris Hotel in the morning and get taken on a 1.5-hour drive north to Belleau, a village in France's Picardy area that, together with Marne, made up one of the major (and now most famous) parts of the western front during World War I. Many important battles took place in this region, including the First Battle of the Marne and the Second Battle of the Marne, which developed into a significant Allied victory.
Start with a visit to the 42-acre (17-hectare) Aisne-Marne American Cemetery to pay tribute to the American troops who fought in the Aisne and Marne area. Wander around the cemetery and visit the Memorial Chapel – built on top of front-line battle trenches, here you can see the names of 1,060 missing American soldiers.
Continue up the hill to Belleau Wood (Bois Belleau), where one of the deadliest battles for the US Marines took place in 1918. This important battlefield is where American soldiers fought valiantly to stop German soldiers from reaching Paris. Take time to walk through the woods to see the traces of the battle, like the trenches, shell holes and ruined buildings that resulted from the heavy fighting.
Your next stop is the Cote 204 Monument at Château-Thierry, which represents the friendship between France and the US and commemorates the achievements of US forces in this region during WWI. This monument stands high above the beautiful Marne Valley and Champagne vineyards, offering beautiful views for you to enjoy.
Take a break for lunch on your own before continuing to Meaux to learn more about WWI history. Your guide will take you to the Museum of the Great War to show you fascinating remnants from the war. See 50,000 war-related objects from many of the countries involved in WWI, giving you a deeper understanding of the worldwide dimensions of the conflict.
After your time in the Museum of the Great War, board your private (minibus or car) for a calm, reflective ride back to Paris, arriving at your hotel around 5:30pm.

Follow your expert guide to the Palace of Versailles where you'll learn about its rich history and witness its magnificent opulence firsthand. From there, enjoy free time in Versailles Gardens before returning to Paris in the early evening.

Your 5-hour tour of Versailles begins with an early afternoon departure from Paris by bus. Relax on the 30-minute journey southwest of Paris.
After arriving in the town, head straight to Queen Marie-Antoinette's idyllic hamlet. In 1682, the grounds were declared the official royal residence and Louis XIV eventually set up separate quarters for his wife, Queen Marie-Antoinette. Attesting to his elaborate tastes, her home resembles a fairytale village. You'll have approximately an hour and fifteen minutes to explore the hamlet and farmhouse and visit Le Petit Trianon, her handsome personal palace.

Meet back at the bus and drive to the Palace of Versailles. Founded in the early 17th century, the showstopping palace was officially built as a royal hunting lodge for King Louis XIII. The sprawling Baroque chateau is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site with centuries of history to match its grandeur. Walk past the palace's long entrance lines with your skip-the-line ticket and head inside for your walking tour. Explore public rooms like the chapel, the King's Grand Apartments, and Hall of Mirrors – where crystal chandeliers hang from frescoed ceilings and the walls are covered with gilded mirrors.

    $154

See the historic sights, cabarets and artist studios of Montmartre, including Moulin Rouge and Basilique du Sacré-Coeur, then skip the line at the Musée d'Orsay for a guided tour of Paris' largest collection of Impressionist works.

Meet your guide at the base of Paris' hilly Montmartre district and set off to begin your 5-hour Impressionist walking tour. Historically an artsy, off-the-grid and rebellious area near Paris' outskirts, Montmartre was the haunt of the most famous artists and writers of the late 19th and earlier 20th centuries, including Renoir, Monet, van Gogh, Degas and Cézanne, and the streets echo tales of their provocative antics both on and off the canvas.
Strolling along picturesque cobbled backstreets dotted with artist studios, bohemian hangouts and old cabarets, gain insight into the sights and sounds that inspired these talented artists. See the houses where artists such as Picasso and van Gogh lived and worked, and visit the windmill featured in Renoir's provocative Bal du moulin de la Galette. Pause in front of the world's most famous cabaret, Moulin Rouge, and put yourself in the shoes of the talented Toulouse-Lautrec, who regularly sat before the debaucherous after-hour scene here, paintbrush in hand.
Conclude your Montmartre stroll under the iconic dome of Basilique du Sacré-Coeur. Enjoy breathtaking views over Paris from Montmartre's highest point. You'll then have free time for lunch (own expense).
Hop in a private vehicle and drive down the hill to your next stop, the Musée d'Orsay, on the left bank of the Seine River. A former train station built at the turn of the 20th century, the Musée d'Orsay is now a museum that houses one of the finest and extensive collections of Impressionist art in the world. As one of Paris' most popular tourist attractions, the entrance lines can get quite long, but with your skip-the-line ticket, you'll bypass the queues and head straight inside for a 2-hour guided tour.
Follow your guide from one Impressionist or post–Impressionist masterpiece to the next, created by luminaries such as Monet, Manet, Renoir, Cézanne and Gauguin. Learn about the skillful techniques employed by these awe-inspiring masters, and gain insight into the significance behind selected works. Your tour finishes inside the museum.

Chartres and Its Cathedral: 5-Hour Tour from Paris with Private Transport

    Private Tours Paris
    $157
Visit the town of Chartres with a private driver and guide on this 5-hour tour from Paris. The main attraction is Chartres Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 12th century and is famous for its French Gothic architecture and stained-glass windows. With your private guide, explore the cathedral inside and out, and then have some time to walk around town.

Your tour starts with pickup at your hotel in Paris for the 1-hour drive in a private vehicle to Chartres. Located about 50 miles (80 km) southwest of Paris, the town is best known for the Cathedral Notre-Dame de Chartres, one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in the world.

Ornamented with more than 4,000 sculptures, the cathedral has been an important destination for travelers since the 12th century; many pilgrims come to see its relic the Santa Camisa, said to be worn by Mary at the birth of Jesus, and others come to admire the 176 stained-glass windows that create a relatively dark but richly colored interior where light filters through the many narrative and symbolic panes.

The labyrinth, in the center of the nave, and the crypt beneath the cathedral are two other can't-miss features you'll see inside before heading outside to focus on the structure itself: its towers built in different styles, its facade with detailed sculptures and statues, the astronomical clock from the 15th century, the flying buttresses, the bishop's garden where you can enjoy a view over the old town, and the labyrinth garden from the 18th century.

First up is Notre Dame Cathedral; now over 850 years old, the cathedral still reigns as a titan of Gothic architecture. Scour its exteriors of delicately sculpted stone and the messages of its intricate façade. Learn about the cathedral's famously hunchbacked bell ringer, the devilish myth of its main doorways, and how the French Revolution almost destroyed the cathedral. Inside Notre Dame discover striking stained glass windows, dizzying vaulted ceilings, and a plethora of unexpected details from long ago.

Second on your exploration is the the Conciergerie; a former royal palace which was converted into a prison, famously used as the city's prison during the bloody days of the French Revolution. Relive the terrible conditions of the condemned by viewing prison cells from centuries ago, including that of the building's most famous prisoner - Marie Antoinette.

Finally, skip the long line in front of the Sainte-Chapelle to enjoy the most stunning medieval stained glass windows in the world. This private chapel of the king, completed in 1248, once housed Christ's crown of thorns and was the most prestigious and powerful place in all the land.

VIP: Palace of Versailles Tour with Private Viewing of the Royal Quarters

    Private Tours Paris
    $299
See the Palace of Versailles (Château de Versailles) as French kings once did – with this small-group tour that includes a once-in-a-lifetime private viewing of the palace's Royal Quarters. This exclusive tour gives you priority entrance to Versailles through a reserved door and provides you with unprecedented access to magnificent private rooms – such as Louis XVI's library – which are normally off-limits to the general public, allowing you to see a side of the UNESCO World-Heritage-listed Palace of Versailles that most never will.

This VIP experience also includes a tour of two rooms in the State Apartments and the famous Hall of Mirrors as soon as the palace opens, before the majority of the crowd arrives. Your priority entrance ticket allows you to go straight inside the palace with your small group (maximum 16 people), beating most of the public to these rooms.

Your VIP experience begins as you board a luxurious, air-conditioned minivan in central Paris and head west to the Palace of Versailles. On arrival in Versailles enjoy a coffee and croissant in a cafe close to the Palace. Next, meet your knowledgeable guide at the palace's reserved entrance, and go straight inside with your priority access ticket.

Follow your guide to the State Apartments, where you'll see two of the 17 rooms – the King's Chamber and the Council Study. Then head to the fabulous Hall of Mirrors. Your group will be among the first of the general public to arrive at this famous room so you can enjoy the sumptuous setting in all its glory. Walk down the spectacular hall, lined with 357 mirrors that reflect the windows on the opposite wall.

Next, the exclusive part of your tour truly begins as you leave the crowd behind and pass through the velvet ropes into the palace's restricted area. See the following Royal Quarters of Louis XV and Louis XVI:

    • The library of Louis XVI, said to be one of his favorite rooms
    • The dining room where Louis XV held dinners for lords and ladies
    • The clock room with its clock that has a crystal globe showing the planets revolving around the sun
    • The ‘corner room,' which contains a cylinder desk belonging to Louis XV that is considered one of the most outstanding pieces of furniture in the world
You will then visit one of two additional royal sites, depending on daily availability: the Royal Opera House, built in 1770 to celebrate the wedding of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, or the Royal Chapel, where a series of paintings and sculptures depicts the notion that kings were chosen by God.

The guided portion of your tour now ends, and your friendly guide will answer any questions you have. From here, you have a few options to complete your Versailles experience. You can explore the other 15 rooms that make up the public State Apartments independently. You can enjoy lunch at Angelina's restaurant located inside the palace (own expense). Or you can head outside and enjoy the beautiful Gardens of Versailles – a 1,977-acre (800-hectare) oasis of groves, sculptures, labyrinths and fountains. Depending on the day of the week that you are at the palace, you may catch one of the summer musical events – either the Musical Gardens or the Musical Fountains Show (known as the Grandes Eaux musicales), both of which bring the gardens to life with classical music; see the Itinerary section below for more details.

The gardens are also home to La Petite Venise, a popular restaurant with a lovely terrace, located in the former stables by the Grand Canal. It is your choice if you'd like to eat here, but you must make your way here to meet your guide for the drive back to Paris.

    Chantilly Private Excursion

    $1,077
This lovely domain, albeit bearing the name of whipped cream (chantilly in French) is all about the horses. Traditionally, this domain is dedicated to horse breading and horse races – one of the greatest horse racing events, prix de Dianne, is annually held here. The culture, the heritage and the history of this unique place all revolve around horses – so much so, that the legend of the princes of Condé is woven with their presence, actual and symbolic.

Take a relaxed, guided walk through the gardens designed by Le Nôtré ; visit the Condé museum, situated in the unique and beautiful castle ; visit Les Grandes Ecuries, the amazing horse stables (built so elegantly and lavishly that royalty, the likes of Louis XV, would come to dine inside them)

This 6-hour excursion not only lets you see the beautiful and historically significant domain outside of Paris, it lets you visit an ensemble of the castle, the horse stables, the park in the domain and also to taste the world famous whipped cream (chantilly) from Chantilly.

If you do not your visit to revolve around the most notorious sites of Paris, like Versailles, the Louvre and Orsay (that you will probably visit anyhow); if you're keen on discovering a unique place that is slightly off the beaten path, this is an excursion that will more than meet your demands.

    Versailles Private Excursion

    Private Tours Paris
    $957
See Versailles, a unique estate that was made to owe and impress with its sheer size, stature and magnificence. Walk through its many rooms and corridors, especially the well-known Hall of Mirrors, and find out first-hand about the most extravagant and decadent period of the entire French history. The true value of this visit, however, is the domain; as it is more important that the castle. The garden and the estate of Versailles, more so than the chateau, were made to impress with its many fountains, alleys, separate gardens and artificial lakes. They are there to be admired and that is exactly what we are going to do. The duration of the tour is barely enough to go through all of the domain's layered and interesting history.

Take an insider view into the dwelling quarters of the France's most famous and quite likely most ego-maniacal king, Louis the XIV. Also, visit the official receiving quarters where the actual life of the court, with its many intrigues and conspiracies, took place.

This 6-hour tour not only gives you an overview of the domain's history; the castle, the gardens, the fountains; it also helps you to understand the differences between the Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. These kings were very, very different in nature as well as in rule ; comparing them is very interesting and rewarding. We will also compare the difference in their respective styles and see how their politics and different manners of rule were reflected in the different aesthetic their eras are associated with.

If you would wish to learn about the final days of the French monarchy and what led to its downfall; witness one of the most luxurious places in the world (still); admire the sheer insanity of the Sun King materialized in the form of the chateau and an esteta; this visit is not to be missed. The story of the creation of Versailles is surely even more over-the-top and insane than the building or the Sun King themselves. Even if you only have a couple of days to spend in Paris, spend one in Versailles.

    Normandy Private Excursion

    Private Tours Paris
    $1,436
The D-day is today seen as  one of the turning points of the World War II, as well as the largest military operation in history of warfare. The largest intervention of the joint Canadian, British and American forces, it was a massive debarquement on the beaches of Normandy, filled with German forces that were waiting for them. What ensued was a bloody and desperate battle where tens of thousands of lives were lost on both sides. This tour is not only a visit of the most important sites where these battles took place, but also the glimpse into a very complicated situation in the World War II and France's actual role and position in this war.

A driver will come to your hotel in Paris to pick you up and take you to Normandy for a visit of (ideally, depending on the weather and pace) five beaches, an American and a German memorial grounds. We visit the beaches, the actual bunkers, trenches and gun posts, as well as the tanks, boats and equipment used in the battle.

This 10 hour tour (drive from Normandy to Paris and back is included) gives you an overview of the beautiful, war-torn Normandy scenery and history, it also gives you a great and rare insight into France's role in the very layered conflict that was the World War II. France had a very surprising role that is best reflected through the actual stories not only of soldiers but of the people in the cities around the war theatre.

Although we'd want it to be, history is written not only by works of art, buildings and boulevards, culture and lifestyle and cuisine; it is, firstly and foremostly (albeit sadly), written by war. If you are interested in historic sites that still, after all these years, faithfully and graphically depict the actual warfare in all its size, be sure not to miss this tour.

Orangerie Museum : 2-Hour Private Guided Tour

    Private Tours Paris
    $80
This 2-hour private guided tour to the Orangerie Museum will intrigue you, for sure. An official skilled guided will introduce you to the culture and artists of the end of the XIX century: Modigliani, Renoir, Picasso, Soutine and many more, but we will also talk about the mystery of the Collection and the extraordinary life of Coco Chanel.

The term "Orangerie" in English means "orange grove". The building that houses the museum we visit on this tour, in fact, was nothing but the orange grove of the Tuileries Gardens. Then transformed into a storage warehouse of the plants, he has abandoned its practical function to become "deposit" of pictorial representations of another garden, equally famous: that of Giverny, the garden of Claude Monet, 76 kms away from Paris, of which Monet has represented the changing rhythms in the cycle of Water Lilies exposed at Orangerie's.

Our tour is dedicated to the collection of Paul Guillaume, the art dealer of Renoir, Cézanne, Modigliani, Picasso, Matisse. A collection of such a priceless value to arouse the greed of the evil Domenica, the wife of Guillaume ... a fake pregnancy, two murders, a third failure and a terrible court case wrap in mystery this art collection.

Afternoon in the Private Estate of Marie Antoinette: Petit Trianon and Hamlet

    Private Tours Versailles
    $84
Treat yourself to an afternoon excursion to Marie Antoinette's personal domain, tucked away in the beautiful gardens of the Palace of Versailles. During this three-hour tour you'll visit the Petit Trianon, an exquisite private palace set in a luxuriant garden where Marie Antoinette spent much of her time.  You won't want to miss her private theatre, known as ‘the jewel of Versailles'. You'll also wander through the queen's hamlet, a Normandy village featuring a vineyard, a dairy, and a vegetable farm, all built especially for her to simulate the healthy simplicity of country life.

Millions of visitors come each year to marvel at the glory the Palace of Versailles, but for most of them the experience is limited to the State Apartments and the distant perspective of the gardens. With your expert and entertaining guide, you have the rare opportunity to really make the period and the personalities come to life by continuing your visit into more exclusive areas. Explore the surprising atmospheres and art hidden in the garden's many groves.  Distance the crowds and access areas reserved for the private lives and loves of the royalty.

With a diamond-encrusted key, Louis XVI offered his beloved wife Marie Antoinette an escape from the ritualized public life she found so suffocating in the Palace. This key unlocked the small Petit Trianon palace, sheltered from gossip and criticism, where she could feel free to be herself. Follow in her footsteps, through her English gardens and into the place she called home. The furniture and decoration authentically represents the queen's own taste and favored craftsmen. You won't forget Marie Antoinette's private theatre, a hidden jewel of Versailles, installed so the queen herself could star in popular plays applauded by her fashionable ladies-in-waiting!

Just down the path from the richly adorned palace, Marie Antoinette commissioned a replica rustic village, evoking Normandy with its thatched cottages and dairy herd. Here she appreciated the informal atmosphere and healthy air, and indulged in pastoral amusements with her closest friends and confidantes.

The Petit Trianon is a world away from the main Palace at Versailles. Make the most of your visit and spend an enchanting afternoon in the private world of Marie Antoinette. At the end of your visit, we arrange a private chauffeur transfer back to the Versailles station, where you'll catch the direct train back to Paris.
