Christmas Lunch in the Cotswolds

Tours London
$153
Spend Christmas Day in the English countryside! Take this special Christmas tour from London and see the picturesque villages of the Cotswolds, Oxford and Stratford. After your morning pick-up, your Christmas tour will begin with a panoramic tour of London, taking in all the major highlights - Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London and more.

Next, head off to Oxford for a festive walk through this ancient University town. You'll pass by ivy covered colleges and picturesque honey-colored buildings, as well as Christ Church where Lewis Caroll wrote his enchanting tales of Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter was filmed. Your guide will explain to you the traditions of college life as you take in such famous buildings as the mighty Romanesque Radcliffe Camera and The Ashmolean, the oldest museum in the UK.

After Oxford, you'll journey into the limestone hills of the Cotswolds, a region of storybook villages made famous by the wool merchants in the 14th century. These merchants helped build some of the magnificent manor houses and perpendicular Churches prevalent in the area. There will be time to stop for photos outside Blenheim Palace where Sir Winston Churchill was born before heading to a traditional English pub in the picturesque Cotswolds for your Christmas lunch.

Now its time to sit back and enjoy delicious English-style roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by traditional Christmas pudding served in a charming Elizabethan pub. Nearby, the Christmas festivities of the local village begin to take place; if you've brought presents, this is a wonderful setting in which to open them. The Inn boasts a superb collection of real ales and fine wines for those in the mood - why not celebrate the holiday with a brandy or two in front of the log fire?

In the afternoon you will journey to Stratford-upon-Avon, passing by Anne Hathaway's cottage before arriving in this picturesque market town. Stratford-upon-Avon is most famous for William Shakespeare, Britain's most famous writer who was both born and buried here. You can stop for photos or take a short walk at both his birthplace and the delightful Holy Trinity Church where the great man finally came to rest before returning to London.

Private Tour: Westminster Abbey and Banqueting House Walking Tour in London

Private Tours London
$158
Delve into London's royal history on this private 3.5-hour morning or afternoon tour. With your very own personal guide, tour Westminster Abbey, the Royal Church of England and the country's coronation church since 1066. Admire the early Gothic architecture and learn about the royal events hosted there. Then, stroll up Whitehall, where the British Prime Minister is based, to Banqueting House, the only surviving part of the grand Palace of Whitehall. Wander around the banqueting hall, see the ceiling paintings by Sir Peter Paul Rubens and learn about the British royals.

Choose from a morning or afternoon tour, and then meet your guide — an art history specialist — by Westminster Abbey. Snap photos of Gothic crowd pleaser, perhaps the most beautiful early Gothic building in the country, and hear about the abbey's long, rich history.

As you step inside with your guide, discover how the abbey, a royal mausoleum for many centuries, has been used to crown all the kings and queens of England, except two, since William I's coronation in 1066.

Learn about the royal weddings hosted here, including the weddings of Queen Elizabeth II to Prince Philip and Prince William to Kate Middleton, and admire the many artworks and monuments dedicated to soldiers, artists, statesman and writers. You'll also see the College Garden. At some 1,000 years old, it is thought to be the oldest garden in England.

After touring Westminster Abbey, walk with your guide to Banqueting House, the only remaining part of the Palace of Whitehall, a vast royal complex that was burnt down in 1698. Before heading inside, stand on the spot where Charles I was beheaded in 1649 after being convicted of high treason. Then enter the 17th-century building with your guide.

Learn about Charles I and his father, James I Stuart, for who the Banqueting House was built, as you wander from room to room. See the impressive banqueting hall, which would have been used for balls, masques and other royal ceremonies, and admire the elaborate ceiling frescoes that were painted by Sir Peter Paul Rubens.

When the time comes, bid farewell to your guide outside Banqueting House and continue your sightseeing independently or make your own way back to your hotel.

Please note: The Banqueting House is closed in the afternoon. Should you opt for an afternoon tour, you will instead enjoy an extended visit to Westminster Abbey.

Private Tour: London Evening Walking Tour Including Fish and Chips Dinner

Private Tours London
$109
Experience 2,000 years of British history in just three hours. On this private walking tour through London, you'll see all the classic sights before enjoying a typical British dinner of fish and chips. Your very own guide will lead you around one of the world's most important historical and cultural cities. As you travel from Big Ben to St Paul's Cathedral to the London Bridge, you will hear interesting stories from the Roman settlement to present-day London.

This private evening walking tour of classic London attractions starts in the heart of London; follow the Thames River from east to west, taking in the great sights of the British capital before ending your tour with a fish and chips dinner.

London's impact on world history and culture is second to no other city on Earth. London has seen Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Normans, and now people from across the world come and leave their mark on the capital, creating a uniquely varied city of amazing contrasts. Roman walls sit next to Norman castles, Victorian Bridges next to towering glass skyscrapers, and through it all runs the great River Thames.

The city's 2,000 years of history will come to life as you pass the remains of Roman London and the 1,000-year-old Tower of London, and cross one of the most recognizable bridges in the world, Tower Bridge.

As you walk, your expert guide will recount stories that put in context such London sights as London Bridge, Borough Market, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

While the guided walk is in no way strenuous, you'll work up an appetite for a classic London dinner of fish and chips; a firm British favorite for more than 150 years, consisting of a piece of cod, deep-fried in a beer batter so that it's soft and succulent in the middle with a crisp shell, served with thick, perfectly cooked chips and tartar sauce. You will enjoy your dinner in one of London's best fish and chip shops, an authentic, off-the-beaten-path place that stays true to the dish's working-class origins.

After meeting your group, make your way to London's most haunted park — a forgotten plague pit. Then, move on the St James's Palace where a royal murder took place and murky mystery behind the haunting. Continue on to the most haunted house in London which has spine tingling tales, and the Royal Academy where nuns can be heard screaming and doors slamming!

Scared? Don't worry, your guide will protect you from the spooky ghosts while providing lots of interesting historical insight. Continue to Eaton Place in Belgravia and learn the legend of the Unknown Warrior, an unidentified soldier buried in Westminster Abbey in 1920. When night falls and the church goes quiet, he can still be seen standing beside his grave.

Next, head to the riverfront for a walk along the Thames River where you will hear myths about the Lady in Black (who haunts All Hallows church), the ghosts of Downing Street and, of course, the mysterious Jack the Ripper, one of London's most legendary murderers.

As you approach the Tower of London with its towering, ominous grey stone walls, learn about the many ghosts of people who were executed and murdered there, including wives of Henry VIII. You may even see Queen Anne Boleyn, the Tower's most sighted ghost who was beheaded there in 1536 and can still be seen wandering the corridors at night — without a head, of course.

You will use public transportation on this tour, so be prepared with a charged Oyster card or a valid ticket. But don't worry, you can also purchase one at the start of the tour.

The Madness and Marvels of Victorian London with Highgate Cemetery

Ghost Tours London
$75
Step back in time to explore the teaming streets of Victorian London through the eyes of an expert guide. Visit some of the city's crowning architectural achievements, like King's Cross and the Renaissance Hotel, alongside her darker corners, like graveyards where body snatchers used to go about their macabre business. Finish up in Highgate Cemetery, one of London's most unique burial grounds, for an exploration of life and death in an era that changed the world.

Begin by meeting your expert guide and small group of 15 people or fewer at King's Cross, London's most iconic train station, and a symbol of the immense advances that the City underwent under the reign of Queen Victoria. Stop in front of the nearby Renaissance Hotel to marvel at the architecture and learn how the upper crust of British society used to live - and why they were still called the “middle class”.

Leaving behind all that splendor, stroll down streets that used to wind through some of the worst slums in the city and into the graveyard of St. Pancras old church. Here the ground literally bulges with all the bodies that were packed into it, and you'll learn about some of its more interesting inhabitants, like an heiress who became one of the 19th centuries greatest social campaigners, and a tortured doctor who wrote the first vampire story. You'll also learn about the dangers that faced Victorians even after death, like the “resurrectionists” who stole bodies for a living.

Take a tube from one of the oldest underground stations in the world up to Highgate Cemetery for a walk around the west cemetery, which is closed to anyone who is not on an official tour. As you wander the beautiful and atmospheric paths, you'll learn about the amazing lives and (sometimes very strange) deaths of the famous Victorians buried here. After the cemetery, take a tube back down to King's Cross with your guide and get plenty of recommendations on what else to see and where to eat during the rest of your trip.

London Afternoon Tea at Grosvenor House

Foodies London
$65
Combine old-school English glamor with delicious cakes, sandwiches and tea on this must-do afternoon tea experience in London! Choose between one of two different types of afternoon tea – one with Champagne or one with just tea – both taking place at London's 5-star Grosvenor House Hotel.

Afternoon tea in London is an institution, owing its origins to Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford – one of Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting. As an elite member of Victorian society, she was accustomed to eating large breakfasts, small lunches and large dinners -- the latter served very late each night. To satisfy her afternoon hunger pangs, she summoned her servants to bring tea and cakes.

So delightful was the experience that it became a daily meal and the trend caught on – all over London.
Still going strong today, afternoon teas are served all over the capital, with the most prestigious ones taking place in top hotels -- like the 5-star Grosvenor House Hotel where your afternoon tea experience takes place. Simply choose from one of the following options and relax in an atmosphere of genteel refinement:

Traditional Afternoon Tea:

Enjoy a traditional light afternoon tea, served in style in the Grosvenor House's library. Taking place between 3pm and 6pm, the light feast includes a pot of classic English tea, traditional (crust-removed) sandwiches, pastries, and scones with clotted cream and fruit preserves.

Anna's Champagne Afternoon Tea:

Sit down in Grosvenor House's Park Room, which overlooks Hyde Park, and relax to elegant music from the resident pianist. Created as a testament to Duchess Anna's legacy, this luxury afternoon tea comprises dainty finger sandwiches, buttermilk scones, cream puffs and pastries -- all served with your choice of fine English tea and a glass of all-important Champagne.

Stonehenge Summer Solstice Tour from London: Sunset or Sunrise Viewing

Seasonal Events London
$122
Experience the summer solstice at Stonehenge on a sunset or sunrise excursion from London! The astrological celebration at the ancient site has become an annual pilgrimage for druids, sun worshipers and revelers who flock there to welcome the summer. Embrace the festival atmosphere during a sunset viewing on June 20 or a sunrise viewing on June 21, and walk right inside the stone circle itself. Sunset viewings include a trip to the nearby stone circle at Avebury and a light supper in the village of Lacock.

The summer solstice (or Litha) occurs when the Sun reaches its northernmost latitude, giving the most hours of daylight throughout the year. Traditionally, the event marks the first day of summer, and is celebrated all around the world. One of the most legendary solstice celebrations is held at Stonehenge because of its spiritual significance to druids, pagans, and sun worshipers. Join the crowds who flock to the ancient site and celebrate the summer solstice during your sunset or sunrise viewing.

Sunset Viewing: June 20 (11 hours)
Meet in front of London's Millennium Gloucester Hotel in the early afternoon, traveling west by luxury coach. Your first stop is Avebury, a small village in the county of Wiltshire that is home to three Neolithic stone circles – one of them being the largest in Europe. Walk around the site with your guide, and then travel to the picturesque village of Lacock for an early evening supper in a traditional village pub.

Hop back on board your coach and travel to Stonehenge, arriving around 7pm to walk around the stones as the crowds start to gather. Hear how its origins date back roughly 5,000 years, and learn about the different theories that surround the mystical stone circle. Was it built as a temple to the sun or an elaborate burial ground? Where did the 40-ton (36-tonne) stones come from and who put them there? Pose for photos as the sun sets on the famous stones around 9:30pm, and watch the pagan rituals and ceremonies taking place to mark the summer solstice.

After three hours at Stonehenge, return to your coach and travel back to central London, finishing your tour at the start point around midnight.

Sunrise Viewing: June 21 (7 hours)
Board your coach in front of the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in the early hours of the morning, and then travel by coach straight to Stonehenge, arriving around 3am. The sun should start to rise around 4:45am, meaning you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the party atmosphere that builds up to the event. Walk around the stones, watching the celebrations and pondering the mysteries about the legendary stone circle with your guide.

After enjoying roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes at the site, return to your coach and travel back to central London. Your excursion finishes at the start point around 8am.

London Super Saver: London City Sightseeing Including Tower of London plus Jack the Ripper and Ghost Walking Tour

Super Savers London
$131
Discover London's premier sights and dark past on this 7.5-hour Super Saver, which combines two popular tours at a discounted price. Spend the afternoon touring top sights like St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London. Then, after an hour of free time, set off on a 3-hour Jack the Ripper and ghost tour. Expect goosebumps as you approach Theatre Royal Drury Lane, the most haunted theater in the city, and Fleet Street, but it's the stories of Jack the Ripper on the East End that will have you trembling with fear!

London City Sightseeing Tour Including Tower of London and City of London (4.5 Hours)Meet your guide in Trafalgar Square, and then settle into your comfortable seat aboard an air-conditioned coach. Pop in your state-of-the-art Vox headphones as your tour starts so you can hear your guide talking clearly about each site.

Your first stop is a guided tour of St Paul's Cathedral. Crowned by the magnificent dome that continues to dominate the London skyline, the cathedral was rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. In recent years it has seen the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer and the services for both the Golden Jubilee and 80th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

Next it's on to the Tower of London, the ancient fortress steeped in centuries of murder and treason. The splendidly dressed Beefeaters will tell you about the Tower's history, including tragic tales of royals and nobles who met their end within its walls. You'll also see the Crown Jewels, including the 6,000-year-old Koh-I-Noor diamond and impressive coronation regalia.

Then continue to the City of London, that famous square mile where new architecture towers above buildings dating back to medieval times.

Your tour concludes in Trafalgar Square around an hour before you need to meet for your next tour.

Jack the Ripper Tour and London Ghost Walk (3 Hours)Join up with your coach in Trafalgar Square or along the nearby Strand. Then, as you travel to your first stop, listen to your guide set the scene for your evening tour. The year is 1888. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has just published his first Sherlock Holmes story; meanwhile, in the Whitechapel district of London's East End, five women are brutally murdered by the world's first recognized serial killer, Jack the Ripper.

Gaze out of the window and see sights such as the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, which is said to be the most haunted theater in London, and the Old Bailey — a site of numerous public hangings. You'll also visit Fleet Street, home of the demonic barber Sweeny Todd and his accomplice Mrs Lovett, who allegedly baked pies from the flesh of his victims and sold them to unsuspecting customers.

In Whitechapel, jump out of your coach to inspect some of Jack the Ripper's murder sites, decipher the evidence and discuss the suspects. You'll even see Ten Bells Pub, established in 1752, where many of the merciless killer's victims came to drink.

The tour finishes at a traditional pub near Trafalgar Square, where you can calm your nerves with a drink (own expense).

It won't matter what side of the river you are on, there will be a great food to eat from around the world or you can take home some real goodies to feast on later. From oysters to truffles, Thai to Jamaican jerk chicken, pastries to pasties, it's all here when you visit London.

What a great combo.  And we are not talking about the food!  A  unique London Taxi Tour, mixing outstanding food, urban London and traditional London in one great tour. Yes that's right, as we drive from one street food location to the other we will be pointing out all the classic London sightseeing spots and telling you all about them.  After we pick you up from your central London pick up point we will visit at least two street food markets and you will get time to stop and shop at them all.  We will leave you at the last street food market of the day so you can settle down for your lunch or supper and really enjoy the London urban vibe.
